Vegetable Rava Upma is a traditional south Indian breakfast dish that is made from semolina and cooked along with vegetables and seasonings. This dish is popularly called as Khara Bath in. If using pre-roasted rava, skip this step.

- Make ready 1 cup Beans, chopped
- Prepare 1 Carrot, chopped or grated
- Get 1 tbsp Mustard seeds
- Take 1 cup Sooji/Rava

- Prepare 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- Make ready 1/2 tsp Garam powder

- Take 1/2-1 tsp Red chilli powder
- Make ready Water as per requirement
- Take 3-4 tbsp Oil
- Take Pinch Hing/Asafoetida
- Make ready 1 Green chilli, chopped
Rava Upma is made up of Wheat Semolina commonly known as S ooji or Rava. It is one of the quick and easy option to be. Rava Upma is often served with coconut chutney and filter coffee. I mostly eat it as much but of I grew up eating upma for my breakfast.
Steps to make Vegetable Rava Upma:
- Firstly, roast Sooji/Rava on medium-low heat in a pan around 5 or 6 mins. Stir continuously. (Don't make it brown, be careful). Once done, transfer Sooji to bowl.
- Now in a same pan, add 1 or 2 tbsp of oil on medium low heat. Add peanuts, roast and stir them well. Transfer peanuts to another bowl. Add some salt to it.
- Now in a same pan, Add oil (if required) and add mustard seeds and let them crackle or pop.
- Then add chopped onion, green chillies, curry leaves. Sauté them for few mins.
- Add all the chopped veggies and salt. Add 3 cups of water.
- Add lemon juice and mix it well. Let the water come to a boil.
- Once the water comes to a boil, start adding the roasted sooji, slowly.
- Mix Sooji and cover the lid. (Low flame). Let it remain like that atleast for 3-4 mins. And turn off the heat.
- Now remove the lid, sprinkle roasted peanuts on upma and your Delicious Rava Upma is ready.
It was made at least once a week in my home and we used to. Rava Upma recipe, this is the simplest, humble breakfast recipe that can be made in a jiffy, easy even for beginners in cooking! I love to have it with filter coffee. One of my ever favourite is 'Rava upma'! Vegetable rava Upma recipe or uppuma is made from Rava.
