It is nutritious, tasty and very easy to make at home by mixing and cooking roasted rava (suji, semolina) and sautéed vegetables in water. In Andhra they call this upma 'Bombay rava' upma. - Heat up oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds and let them crackle.
- Now add chopped onion,chopped green chilli and peanuts and cook this till onion turns golden brown in colour.
- Now add soaked udad daal,tomato and cook this for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.
- Now add suji,salt, some sugar and mix it well and roast it for 5-7 minutes on medium flame.
- Once the suji is roasted properly then add hot water and mix it well.Add water till suji becomes soft.
- Now lower the flame cover the upma with lid and cook this for 2-3 minutes.
- Suji Halwa is ready for serving.Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and grated carrot.
