If using pre-roasted rava, skip this step. Serve rava upma hot with slices of lemon. I also sprinkle some sev (fried gram flour vermicelli).

The ingredients needed to make Rawa upma:
  1. Get 1 cup rawa/semolina
  2. Take 2.5 cups hot water
  3. Make ready 2 tbsp fresh green peas
  4. Prepare 1 tbsp chopped carrot
  5. Get 2 medium size onions
  6. Get 2 springs curry leaves
  7. Get 3-4 green chillies
  8. Prepare 1/4 tsp asafoetida
  9. Get 1/4 tsp organic turmeric
  10. Get 1/4 tsp sugar
  11. Get 1/2 tsp grated ginger
  12. Get 1 tbsp urad dal
  13. Prepare 1 tbsp mustard seeds
  14. Make ready 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  15. Get 1/2 Lemon juice
  16. Get 2 tbsp oil
  17. Get 3 tsp ghee
  18. Make ready to taste Pink salt according

One of my ever favourite is 'Rava upma'! In addition to that, it's hearty, wholesome, filling. Upma is one of the most easiest breakfast and can be done in a jiffy. Rava Upma-Coconut chutney-Orange juice with honey-Comforting breakfast.

Instructions to make Rawa upma:
  1. Take a wok,dry roast rawa/semolina for few seconds and transfer to a plate. (colour should not change)
  2. In the same wok,add oil + 2tsp ghee,add mustard seeds,let it splutter, cumin seeds,green chillies, curry leaves, asafoetida,grated ginger,urad dal,onions,green peas,carrot, turmeric,saute till it becomes translucent.
  3. Meanwhile, keep water for boiling side by side.
  4. Add salt - sugar, add rawa/semolina little by little & stir continuously.(be careful while adding rawa,it spots up).
  5. Cover wdh a steam releasing lid for 1-2mins. switch off the flame. Sprinkle 1tsp ghee frm all over the edges…and let it be covered for some few minutes..
  6. Stir well. Garnish with coriander leaves or grated coconut.
  7. Upma/uppittu is ready to serve..squeeze some lemon juice and serve hot.
  8. U can have as it is or wdh coconut chutney or even with instant mango pickle.
  9. Note:-Have used 1cup measurement =240ml.
  10. Add veggies of ur choice.
