  1. Prepare 200 gram semolina
  2. Get 2 chopped onions
  3. Prepare 2 chopped tomatoes

  5. Prepare 1/2 cup soaked mung daal
  6. Prepare 1 tsp red chilli powder
  7. Take 1 spoon lemon juice
  8. Make ready 3 spoon oil
  9. Get as needed curry leaves
  10. Prepare as needed coriander leaves for garnishing

Simple, easy and quick recipe with stepwise pictures. I grew up eating upma for my breakfast. Making upma is easy but I did struggle with getting the texture right for a while. Most of the time my upma turned out super dry.

Instructions to make Upitu upma:
  1. Fry samolina until it's colour started to change brown.
  2. In a pan heat oil. Add mustard seed,curry leaf, fenugreek seed and fry for a minute.
  3. Now add chopped onion and fry for 2 to minutes. Now add soaked moong dal and fry for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Add tomato,salt and red chilli powder and cook for 2 yo 3 minutes.
  5. Now add samolina fry for minutes add water and cook it for 3 to 4 minutes by covering.
  6. Add lemon juice and put off the flame.
  7. Upitu is ready. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
