- In large bowl blend flour, baking powder and salt
- Add lard or shortening

- Turn dough onto floured surface ( counter top or cutting board)
- knead the dough by folding it in half and pushing down a few times. dough should not be to sticky.
- Put the dough back in the bowl and cover bowl with( hand towel or plastic wrap) for about 10 to 15 min
- divide dough in 1/2 keep other half covered so it doesn't dry.
- Roll the dough on floured board to 1/8 in thick.
- cut dough into rectangles to whatever size u like.
- heat the vegetable oil to 400°F in large skillet or deep fryer.
- carefully put first sopapilla in hot oil. once its puffed u can turn it around until golden brown.
- place cooked sopapillas on a plate with a paper towel.
- once they are all done enjoy with some honey :)
